‘성인 거주 프로그램’은 수정된 형태의 치료 공동체(TC)로, 약물 남용의 정서적·영적 측면을 다루기 위한 체계와 절차를 갖추고 있으며, 공동체를 활용하여 개인의 치유 과정을 돕고 건강한 삶을 위한 행동, 태도 및 가치관의 형성을 지원합니다 (오스트랄라시아 치료 공동체 협회, 2010). 또한, 정신 건강 문제를 겪는 이들과 약물 요법을 이용하는 이들 등 더 광범위한 인구 집단을 위한 다양한 특별 서비스와 중재 방안도 통합 및/또는 지원되어, 치료 공동체의 전통적 또는 일반적인 이론적 틀을 강화합니다.
