About Connect

What is Connect?

Connect (connectact.org.au) is a directory of services for young people aged roughly 12–25 in Canberra and the surrounding region: health, housing, mental health, education, employment, legal help and more. It's published by the Youth Coalition of the ACT, the peak body for the ACT's youth sector.

Does Connect run any of the services listed?

No. Connect is a directory only: we don't operate, employ, or manage any of the services listed on the site, and listing here isn't an endorsement beyond "this service exists and this is how to reach it." If you need to contact a specific service, use the contact details on its own listing page, not Connect.

Is Connect free to use?

Yes, browsing and searching the directory is completely free and doesn't require an account.

Finding a service

How do I find a service?

Use Browse to search and filter by category, age and cost, or start from Categories if you know the general area you need help with (like housing or mental health). Each listing page has full details: what it offers, who it's for, cost, and how to get in touch.

Can I filter by cost?

Yes, the Browse page has a cost filter covering things like completely free, bulk billing, sliding scale, and standard fees, so you can narrow results to what's actually affordable for you.

I'm in immediate danger or crisis: what do I do?

Don't wait to search the directory. Call 000 for emergencies. For 24/7 crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800. These numbers are also shown on the homepage.

Suggesting or correcting a listing

How do I add a listing?

Go to Add a listing (linked in the header and footer). Choose whether it's a program/service or an event, then fill in the basics (name, description, cost, region, contact details) and as much of the optional service detail (age range, how to access it, delivery, hours, accessibility) as you can; the more you fill in, the more useful the listing is to a young person searching for help. You can also attach a logo, a header image, and a brochure or referral form as a PDF. Anyone can submit (an organisation, a youth worker, or a member of the public) and it takes a couple of minutes.

How do I edit or suggest a change to a listing?

Open the listing's own page and choose "Suggest a change" (near the contact details). The form comes back pre-filled with everything currently on the listing, so you only need to update the fields that are wrong or out of date, add a short reason for the change, and submit. You don't have to re-enter everything from scratch.

Does my suggestion go live straight away?

No. Every submission, new listings and corrections alike, goes into a moderation queue and is reviewed by our team before anything changes on the public site. This usually takes a few business days. We may email you if we need to check something.

Contacting us

How do I contact Connect?

Use the Contact form for feedback, technical issues, or general questions about the Connect website. That form is not for contacting a specific service. For that, use the contact details on the service's own listing page.

What languages does Connect support?

Listings are available in English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Spanish, Hindi, Vietnamese, Nepali and Punjabi. Use the language switcher in the header on any listing page to change languages.

Privacy & accessibility

What personal information does Connect collect?

Browsing the directory doesn't collect personal information. We only collect it if you actively submit a form (a listing, a correction, or a contact message). See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

Does Connect support dark mode?

Yes, use the sun/moon toggle in the header to switch between light and dark. Your choice is remembered for next time.

Is Connect accessible?

We aim to meet WCAG AA contrast standards across the site, in both light and dark mode, and the site is fully usable by keyboard. If something isn't working well for you with a screen reader or other assistive technology, please let us know via the Contact form.

What does the "Quick exit" button do?

It's always visible in the bottom-right corner of the screen. If you need to leave the site immediately, for example if someone is about to see your screen, click it and you'll be taken straight to a neutral site, replacing Connect in your browser history.
